S K Sharan is a Type 2 diabetic since 1995. When he joined dLife.in, he was 105+ kg in weight, and on the following medicines as noted in his intro thread posted on August 25, 2015:
- Novorapid: 8U 3 times a day
- Lantus: 10U at bed time
- Invokana (100 mg): 1-0-0
- Januva (100 mg): 1-0-0
- Triglimisave 2: 1-0-1
On his intro thread, a lot of guidance and hand-holding was provided to him by dLife.in mentors. By the end of the first week, he was off Januvia and Invokana, the two most expensive oral pills for diabetics, both together costing close to Rs. 100/day. So, he was already saving Rs 3000/month by the end of the first week, and after that he has never had to take them, even 3 years down the line.
His intro thread, with all the diet tweaks, weaning away from drugs, interim reports etc., runs into more than 300 messages. One can check the same on the link given above. However, by the end of that thread, here’s what he had to report back on 19th August 2016, almost a year since he started the Indian LCHF diet:
- Weight reduced by 11 KG.
- Got rid of all insulin for last 70 days.
- Got rid of Glimy.
- Taking Glycomet SR 500 twice.
- HbA1C stands at 5.9% as on last month. BS Level: 80-130.
He was already off Invokana and Januvia right within the first week. Currently, as per what he reported last, his weight is in 85-87 kg band, and he is maintaining an HbA1C of 5.6%. Here’s what he posted on his testimonial thread:
I am diabetic for past 25 years, suffered a lot with increased medication. Even Insulin became ineffective. I was gaining weight. HbA1C- 8.
Converted to LCHF, 30 months back. Now 17kg lighter, look younger, full of energy HbA1C- 5.6. And minimum medication.
